that you literally killed.Įdit: You won't know the game doesn't let you attack NPCs until you try it.Įdit2: Somehow I forgot the baby mushrooms existed when I wrote this. but some opponents require parry like big bugs (that wear big masks) in the deep nest ( ) Just use charging attack and then dash back. They also stand near the dead body of a maggot. Originally posted by batteran: Yeah, parry in Hollow Knight is an advanced technique. Maggots are only near a dreamfight and even have amusing Dreamnail dialogue. Maskflies are in every other room in Greenpath and you are likely to hit them accidentally at least once. So for things that are literally non threatening at all we have maggots and Maskflies. Now there are the palace guys, but they kind of aren't real (either are dreams or stuck in limbo). Same with the big grey bees outside of the hive (can't remember their name).

Now you might say: "But what about Durandas/ Durandoos?" They do not actively attack you but are often in your way and cause damage to you. One of these is clearly infected, so that leaves Maskflies. In exchange for some Geo and Pale Ore, the Nailsmith will be able to increasingly strengthen The Knights nail, making the game far easier after every visit. Furthermore, I believe that besides maggots the only other living non-threatening creatures required are Maskflies (look like little birds) and Lightseeds (look like little infected bugs that run into corners). While Hollow Knight is certainly a difficult game, many players have been making the game much harder than it needs to be by never looking for or finding the Nailsmith. Blacksmith Nailsmith does not have a journal entry. You say "you don't have to kill any NPCs", but the game also literally doesn't let you harm NPCs that can be conversed with, so that's a moot point. Originally posted by Boksha:Literally every thing in the game that can be killed has a journal entry, including several creatures that cannot harm you.
